Homes Beyond Code (HBC) is designed to incentivize SaskEnergy customers who build a new home with higher overall energy efficiency than required by the current National Building Code. This program promotes innovation in new homes, with a focus on natural gas solutions at a series of incremental steps towards net zero energy.
The Home Energy Loan Program (HELP) was developed to help Saskatoon homeowners improve energy efficiency, install renewable energy, or reduce water use by offering low interest loans to cover the costs of these upgrades. Loans between $1,000 and $60,000 are available to homeowners residing in the city of Saskatoon for eligible retrofits.
Edmonton’s Home Energy Retrofit Accelerator (HERA) is a program that helps you understand your home’s energy efficiency and provides rebates for upgrades. Insulation, windows, water and space heating equipment are all eligible for rebates with bonuses available for bigger renovations.
Rebate stacking is allowed with other energy efficiency incentive programs, including Canada’s Greener Homes Grant program, to a maximum of 100% of the total investment made by the homeowner.
The City of Regina’s Residential Retrofit Rebate Program (RRRP) provides matching funding of up to $5,000 for eligible work under the Canada Greener Homes Grant to help Regina homeowners reduce their energy use and monthly utility bills.
The Residential Equipment Replacement Rebate (RERR) administered by SaskEnergy is designed to help offset the cost of energy efficient equipment for homeowners in order to reduce their natural gas and electrical usage and associated operating costs.
High utility bills can be stressful for lower-income households and it can be costly to make energy efficient upgrades to your home. Let SaskPower help you with their new Energy Assistance Program (EAP).
All Saskatchewan residents who meet the program eligibility are welcome to apply. This program is offered in partnership with the Government of Canada, the City of Saskatoon and the City of Swift Current Light and Power.
A number of mortgage insurance companies are offering incentives to purchase energy efficient homes. One such incentive is a substantial refund on your mortgage insurance premium. This can often equate to a refund of $1,000 on every $100,000 of your mortgage amount.
